The live music
El cachivache quinteto

El Cachivache is a statement, an electric scream from Buenos Aires, blending tangotradition with the urgency of punk and the pulse of electronica.
Energetic, visceral, and undeniably authentic. They are a reference for the new tango scene with a suburban milonga spirit and contemporary language.
Some call them “modern buffoons”, while others describe their music as “Tango Punk”, and both are true. El Cachivache delivers their music in a vigorous manner with a strong dose of humor, mixing traditional tango with a post-punk look, which simultaneously frightens and attracts the audience. Witty song introductions emerged with the music, livening up already energetic performances.
The band was selected to perform at WOMEX19 Showcase in Tampere, Finland in October 2019, and became part of Putumayo´s world music catalogue in November 2024.
The band is very popular in its home city of Buenos Aires, and play every Wednesday at La Cachivacheria Milonga, in Palermo.
They are presenting now their new album “Dance Me to the end of Noise” 2025, featuring Gianina Druta.

IN ROAD WE TRUST a film by Diego Tomasevic
IN ROAD WE TRUST follows El Cachivache Quinteto, an Argentinian Tango-Punk band, on several international tours, from 2017 to 2025, including the Womex Showcase in 2019. Instead of focusing on the stage or success, the film observes what happens between concerts: endless transfers, forced coexistence, physical exhaustion, and the emotional persistence of those who live in motion. Over seventy minutes, the film builds an intimate portrait where music appears as a shared language, but also as work, routine, and necessity. The initial enthusiasm of the journey slowly transforms into a more complex experience shaped by repetition and the constant question of what it means to keep going. The film relies on spontaneous conversations, silences, and direct observation. The camera stays within, recording the passage of time and the transformation of bodies, relationships, and thegroup’s mood, following their dreams. Some dreams come true, and others turn into nightmares.
